1.4 Order of events
1.4.1 In Category 1 and 2 competitions in both formats the order of events shall be:-
Horse-riding– alphabetical start in order by competitor’s last name or in order from slowest combined Equathon seed time to fastest combined Equathon seed time.
Swimming – handicap start from riding result in two lanes (A & B) based on a whole or half second start. Competitors run 50m to swim start and wade or dive into course. Upon exiting swim course continue immediately to run course.
Running– continuous from swim. First athlete across the finish line declared the winner and so on.
1.4.2 In Category 3 competitions the order of events may be varied and the format continuos or broken with cumulative time for all three disciplines still used to decide the winners. Where possible the run discipline should always be the preferred finish with the first athlete over the finish line declared the winner.
1.4.3

Possible Category 3 competition conduct:
Horse-riding – either alphabetical start by last name or if second or last discipline reverse start in order of placing (i.e highest placed athlete starts last).
Swimming – either "mass" start on "go" or may be handicapped based on time difference after previous disciplines (i.e. highest placed athletes starts on "go" and all other athletes start on time difference from the leader rounded down to nearest half second). If handicap start is used and swimming is the last discipline the first athlete to finish the swim will be declared the winner and so on.
Running – either "mass" start on "go" or may be handicapped based on time difference after previous disciplines (i.e. highest placed athletes starts on "go" and all other athletes start on time difference from the leader rounded down to nearest half second). If handicap start is used then two lanes marked "A" and "B" should be used at the start with athletes starting on a whole second placed in Lane A and those starting on a half second placed in Lane B with Lane B’s start line exactly two (2) metres behind that of Lane A. If handicap start is used and running is the last discipline the first athlete to cross the finish line will be declared the winner and so on.
